Causes
Tartar is formed when minerals from the saliva become lodged in plaque, which is particularly possible in places where the toothbrush cannot reach (e.g. between teeth). Due to the rough surface of the tartar, bacteria and microorganisms are able to accumulate and multiply particularly well. Often times, the insides of the mandibular incisors and the outside of the maxillary incisors are affected. When it comes to these areas, the body’s saliva is expelled from the salivary glands.
